Terms

The short version: this is information, the agency decides, and you should check anything that matters against the official page we link to.

Information, not advice

This is general information, not legal advice. It cannot account for the particulars of your situation.

Everything here is a summary of procedures published by official state title authorities, with a link to the source for each answer.

Unusual ownership, probate, lien, salvage, court-order or identity situations commonly require steps beyond those listed here.

The agency decides

The official agency determines what it will accept, what you owe, and which documents it requires. Its decision governs.

Nothing here is a guarantee that a transaction will be accepted, that a fee is current, or that a form is the version an office will take today. Procedures, fees and forms change, and they sometimes change without the published page changing. Where a state office and this site disagree, the state office is right.

No affiliation

VehicleTitleTransfer is an independent publisher. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any state motor vehicle agency or any government body.

State agency names and form numbers are used only to identify the official documents and offices they refer to. No endorsement is claimed or implied.

No filing service

We do not file anything with any agency, and we cannot submit, expedite, or check the status of a transfer. Ticking a box on this site records your own progress in your browser and nothing more.

Accuracy and corrections

This site is compiled carefully and checked mechanically, and it discloses what it could not establish rather than filling the gap. It is still capable of being wrong, and official pages themselves sometimes contradict one another — where we know of such a conflict, the page says so. Please report anything incorrect to bineyamtsegaye1@gmail.com or via the corrections page; the methodology explains how a report is handled.

Liability

The site is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on it — including penalties, late fees, rejected applications or missed deadlines. Verify anything consequential against the official source linked beside it before you act.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to read, print and share these checklists, including for your own work. Do not present this site as an official government resource, and do not republish it in a way that implies affiliation with, or endorsement by, any agency.
